Shortly after the presidential
spokesperson Reuben Abati announced that the president was currently undergoing
medical checkup in the UK, concerned Nigerians took to social media to air
their views. While some prayed and wished him quick recovering, others
ironically lambasted and described him as inept leader, who cannot even boast
of a world class medical centre in his country, a reason he flew abroad for a
mere checkup.
The statement from Abati on November 21 reads thus: “In the course of his
on-going visit to London for a meeting of Nigeria’s Honorary International
Investors’ Council, President Goodluck Jonathan became indisposed and could not
be present at the opening of the meeting. He has since been examined by competent medical
practitioners. He has been advised to rest for a few days.”
